Aust to resume training in Sri Lanka

Australia’s cricketers resume training on Tuesday following a two-day break as they prepare for stage two of their World Twenty20 campaign.

George Bailey’s men advanced to the Super Eights following wins over Group B rivals Ireland and West Indies.

Friday night’s clash with India in Colombo is the first of three Super Eights games for Australia as they bid to qualify for the semi-finals.

The Indians are in tremendous form following their 90-run win over England in Colombo on Sunday night when they bowled the defending champions out for just 80.

The dominance of India’s spin twins Harbhajan Singh (4-12) and Piyush Chawla (2-13) against England must be a concern for Australia following their struggles against Pakistan offspinner Saeed Ajmal in the United Arab Emirates earlier this month.

It was the first international game in more than a year for the controversial Harbhajan who has been a thorn in Australia’s side in the past.

While openers Shane Watson (51 and 41 not out) and David Warner (26 and 28) are in good touch, Australia coach Mickey Arthur is demanding improvement from his bowlers.

Australia conceded a total of 8-191 against West Indies last Saturday night.

“I was really disappointed the way we executed with the ball. We were just a little bit sloppy and that annoyed me a little bit,” Arthur said.
