Abbott to sit out grade cricket

Sean Abbott will sit on the sidelines as Sydney grade cricket returns to the field this weekend for the first time since Phillip Hughes’ death.

Cricket NSW have confirmed that Abbott is still a way off getting back on the pitch for his club side Sydney University.

South Australian batsman Hughes was killed in an on-field accident during a Sheffield Shield game at the SCG last week after being hit by a bouncer bowled by Abbott.

Pat Cummins, Steven O’Keefe, Moises Henriques, Doug Bollinger and Peter Neville will be among the players to take the field for their clubs this weekend.
