2013 Ashes Test 2 tipped to be a draw

The expectation of a typical Adelaide wicket has enticed punters to heavily back a draw to be the result of the 2nd Ashes Test. The odds of the Adelaide Test ending in a draw have firmed significantly from $2.70 into $2.40 favouritism at Sportingbet.

Australia’s odds of taking a 2 nil series lead have eased from $2.50 to $2.65, while England’s odds of victory in the 2nd Ashes Test have drifted from $3.60 to $3.65 at Sportingbet.

“More than 60% of the money we’re holding so far is for a draw and the rest is split evenly between Australia and England,” Sportingbet’s Andrew Brown said.

Punters are also anticipating some big scores in Adelaide and the odds of Michael Clarke scoring a century in the 1st Innings have shortened from $4.50 into $4. David Warner’s odds of a 1st Innings ton have also firmed from $4.50 into $4.25.

According to punters, England’s best hopes of a 1st Innings century lie with Alastair Cook ($4.25) and Kevin Pietersen ($4.50).

Sportingbet’s UK parent, William Hill, has closed betting on who will bat at number 3 for England following heavy support for Joe Root, who was backed into clear-cut $1.20 favouritism.

“We opened Root at odds of $1.75 to be England’s new number 3 and he was the only one the punters wanted,” said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.
Australia remains steady at $1.60 with Sportingbet to win the series and regain the Ashes. England is a $2.35 outsider.
