Preview:
The Bulldogs take on the Blues on Sunday, 4.40PM at Etihad Stadium.  This looks like a close encounter, with the Bulldogs slight favourites to win after Carlton’s weak form in recent weeks.  Carlton coach Mick Malthouse will be under a lot of pressure this round, with the Blues currently 0-4 and showing terrible form last week in their loss to the Melbourne Demons.

The Bulldogs are travelling much better at the moment, with 2-2 in 2014 and 10th ladder position after beating a spirited Greater Western Sydney side last round. However, the Dogs’ backline depth will be tested this weekend, with key defender Dale Morris suspended and Jordan Roughead missing with a shoulder injury. While the Blues have to turn things around at some stage, only the very brave would back them after their performance last week.

News:

Judd back, Waite and Garlett recalled. Five Eagles dropped. O’Keefe dropped again, plus Rohan joins him.

A big AFL loss or four prompted Carlton, West Coast and Sydney to make big selection calls for the Easter weekend.

Reeling from last weekend’s upset loss to Melbourne and their horror 0-4 start, the Blues named star veteran Chris Judd in their extended squad for Sunday’s twilight match against the Western Bulldogs.

Judd is yet to play this season because of achilles tendon surgery.

Originally, he was scheduled to return in round three, but his recovery was slower than expected.

Forwards Jarrad Waite and Jeff Garlett were recalled after being dropped for the Demons defeat.

The Blues have lost Michael Jamison (leg) and Troy Menzel (hamstring), as well as dropping Nick Graham, while Matthew Watson and Tom Bell have also been added to the squad.

West Coast were undermanned and outclassed last weekend when they suffered their first loss of the season.

The Eagles reacted to the battering from Geelong by axing five players for Saturday’s home game against Port Adelaide.

Captain Darren Glass is back, along with Matt Rosa, Chris Masten, Luke Shuey and Mark Hutchings.

Out go Sam Butler, Will Schofield, Patrick McGinnity, Scotty Lycett and Brant Colledge.

Sydney originally dropped veteran forward Ryan O’Keefe for round one, but he was a late recall for the loss to Greater Western Sydney.

Stung by last weekend’s home defeat to North Melbourne, this time they have dropped O’Keefe and Gary Rohan as well for Saturday’s home game against Fremantle.

They have also lost Tom Mitchell (ankle) and regained Craig Bird and Brandon Jack.

Jake Lloyd has been named for his AFL debut.

In other team news:

* The Dockers regained star pair Nathan Fyfe and Chris Mayne, leaving out Hayden Crozier and Josh Simpson.

* Essendon regained an impressive quartet for Saturday night’s Etihad Stadium match against St Kilda – Paul Chapman, Paddy Ryder, David Myers and Dustin Fletcher. They lost Brendon Goddard (groin) and Jason Winderlich (rested) and dropped Travis Colyer and Dylan van Unen.

* The Saints made five changes, three of them unforced. Adam Schneider, Josh Bruce, Seb Ross, Tom Hickey and Jack Billings return, but they lost David Armitage (knee) and Nathan Wright (leg), while Beau Maister, Shane Savage and Billy Longer were axed.

* Collingwood opted not to recall defender Nathan Brown for Saturday’s big match against North Melbourne and are unchanged.

* The ‘Roos are without Jack Ziebell (shoulder) again, only recalling Daniel Currie for Robin Nahas.

* The Power regained Chad Wingard for Jack Hombsch (hamstring).

* Geelong’s Josh Caddy has a broken foot, forcing him out of the Easter Monday blockbuster against Hawthorn and sidelining him for two months.
