Swans must make AFL changes

Sydney must replace Rising Star winner Callum Mills and ruck-forward Kurt Tippett for Saturday’s AFL semi-final against Adelaide.

By contrast, the Crows are likely to have the only unchanged lineup when teams for the weekend’s semi-finals are announced early on Thursday evening.

Mills hurt his hamstring and Tippett suffered a jaw fracture in last Saturday’s qualifying final loss to the Giants.

The Swans pulled Toby Nankervis and Jeremy Laidler out of the NEAFL grand final last weekend and they appear the likely replacements.

Defender Zak Jones also might have come in for Mills, but he was concussed in the NEAFL loss to the Giants and his season could be over.

The Crows are adamant that key forward Josh Jenkins will play after he rolled an ankle last Saturday night in the thumping elimination final win over North Melbourne.

Forward James Sicily appears certain to come into Hawthorn’s side for the Friday night semi-final against the Western Bulldogs at the MCG.

Sicily pulled out of last Friday night’s epic qualifying final because of illness and the Hawks missed him in attack as they lost to Geelong by two points.

Youngster Ryan Burton hurt his calf against the Cats and he might make way for Sicily.

Hawks midfielder Billy Hartung was unlucky to be dropped for the qualifying final and he is contention for a senior recall.

The Bulldogs must replace midfielder Lin Jong, who broke his collarbone in the elimination final win over West Coast.

Toby McLean, Lukas Webb and Roarke Smith were all rested from the VFL last weekend and Jong’s replacement will most likely come from that trio.
