Gold Coast have re-signed Gary Ablett to a three-year contract extension, keeping the dual Brownlow Medallist at the club until the end of the 2018 AFL season.

Ablett, currently sidelined indefinitely due to an injured left shoulder, joined the Suns as the expansion club’s marquee man before their introduction to the competition in 2011.

The 30-year-old, who won the 2009 and 2013 Brownlow Medal as the competition’s best player, says being a part of the Suns has been a fulfilling experience and he can’t wait to lead the club to future success.
