Suns lose Rischitelli to AFL injury

Gold Coast’s AFL injury woes continue, with Michael Rischitelli out of action with a shoulder injury and Dion Prestia sidelined for another week.

The Suns will know the extent of Rischitelli’s injury on Thursday, but he’ll be out for at least two or three weeks.

While there is speculation the subluxed shoulder their vice-captain suffered on Saturday night could end his season, the Suns think that is extreme.

Regardless, the Suns can ill-afford to be without Rischitelli and Prestia for Saturday night’s match against Geelong – one of the league’s toughest away matches.

After a 3-0 start to the season, the Suns are coming off losses to Brisbane and North Melbourne.

Prestia missed the Kangaroos game because of illness and now has a shoulder problem.

Star midfielders David Swallow and Jaeger O’Meara are yet to play this season because of knee injuries.

Their defence is without Steven May because of a five-week suspension, while Adam Saad (hip) could also miss the Cats game.
