Suns lose May for Port AFL clash

Key Gold Coast defender Steven May will miss Saturday’s crucial AFL clash with Port Adelaide due to a hamstring strain.

The big backman was injured in weekend’s loss to Carlton and was ruled out by the Suns on Tuesday.

May’s absence will create a big gap for coach Guy McKenna as the Suns try to keep their hopes of a maiden finals berth alive against the Power.

“He’s going to be out for a few weeks,” Suns’ high performance manager Stephen Schwerdt told the club’s website.

“It’s a bit unfortunate for Steve. He’s had a sensational year really.”

Schwerdt said vice-captain Michael Rischitelli should be right to overcome the corked hip which resulted in him being subbed out of the clash with the Blues.

Defender Trent McKenzie will have to pass a concussion test later in the week to be declared right to play against the Power.
