Saints aim to keep Schneider in AFL

St Kilda want Adam Schneider to continue with them as a mature-aged AFL rookie.

The Saints have delisted Schneider and fellow small forward Terry Milera, who is returning to SA.

Also on Tuesday, they upgraded former Gold Coast player Maverick Weller from rookie status to their primary list.

The Saints said Schneider, 30, will continue to train with them and they plan to pick him up again in December through the rookie draft.

“We are looking forward to Adam continuing with us,” said Saints chief operating officer Ameet Bains.

“He still has much to offer on-field while also continuing to provide strong leadership to our young, emerging playing group.

“Throughout the recent trade period we spoke with both Adelaide and Port Adelaide about Terry, but unfortunately both clubs sought to pursue other options.”

Schneider, a member of Sydney’s 2005 premiership team, played 98 games for the Swans and has played 115 for St Kilda since joining them in 2008.
