Roo Thomas accepts one-game AFL ban

North Melbourne forward Lindsay Thomas will miss Drew Petrie’s 300th AFL game after accepting a one-match ban for his high hit on Western Bulldogs midfielder Lachie Hunter.

Thomas risked a two-match suspension if he unsuccessfully challenged the AFL match review panel’s assessment of his coathanger on Hunter that drew angry remonstrations from his Bulldogs teammates.

But the AFL tribunal won’t sit on Tuesday evening after Thomas accepted the penalty, along with Adelaide’s Kyle Hartigan and Brisbane’s Tom Bell, who accepted $1,000 fines for rough conduct and striking respectively.

The unbeaten Kangaroos take on St Kilda at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
