Richmond re-sign Hampson and Lloyd

Richmond have secured the futures of ruckman Shaun Hampson and forward Sam Lloyd for another two AFL seasons.

The off-contract pair have each re-signed until the end of the 2018 season, with the Tigers believing they have provided rare highlights in an otherwise disappointing season for the 13th-ranked team.

“While our overall season has been disappointing, we’ve been really pleased with the performances of both Sam and Shaun over the course of the season,” football manager Dan Richardson said.

“Sam has worked incredibly hard since the start of pre-season to improve his fitness and ensure he has an impact across four quarters, which has been noticeable in games.

“Shaun’s had his most consistent year since arriving at Richmond. His ruck work is continuously improving and we’ve seen him having more of an impact around the ground as well.”

Lloyd, 26, has played every game so far for the Tigers in 2016, kicking 31 goals to be second in the club for goalkicking behind Jack Riewoldt.

Meanwhile, Hampson, 28, has enjoyed the best season of his 10-year career, averaging 33.6 hitouts in his 17 matches in 2016.
