Gold Coast could capture Richmond’s first two picks in the AFL draft with young gun Dion Prestia officially declaring he wants to be a Tiger.
Prestia requested a trade last Sunday, confirming he wanted to return to Melbourne after a season of speculation.
The 23-year-old midfielder had been linked to Richmond for months and on Wednesday revealed it was his club of choice.
The two clubs will now try to agree on a suitable trade.
“Dion has shown he’s both a quality player and person,” Richmond football manager Dan Richardson said.
“He would be a great addition to our list.”
The Tigers may have to part with their first-round draft selection to secure Prestia, who has played 95 games for Gold Coast.
The Suns already boast Richmond’s second-round draft pick this year, which was part of the deal that resulted in Chris Yarran heading to Punt Rd in 2015.
