Port Adelaide utility Matt White wants to grit his teeth through a broken jaw and play in Saturday’s AFL semi-final against Fremantle.

Scans on the attacker reveal a fracture but White remains a chance for the knockout Perth final.

“He has got a small crack in his jaw,” Port ruckman Matthew Lobbe told reporters on Monday.

“They will look at it later in the week and they’ll base the selection on that.

“We’d love him to play. But if he doesn’t, we have got great depth as well.”

Port’s confidence is soaring after trouncing Richmond by 57 points in Sunday’s elimination final.

But Lobbe cautioned against euphoria, given the daunting away trip to meet the Dockers.

“(Coach) Kenny (Hinkley) will never let us get ahead of ourselves,” Lobbe said.

Port fell eight points short of Freo in Perth two rounds ago as the Dockers claimed fourth spot and the finals double chance.

But Lobbe said the Power now carry priceless momentum into the rematch against a Fremantle outfit humbled by Sydney in a qualifying final.

“We have improved every game probably for the last month, we have been building,” he said.

“We have got a lot of respect for Fremantle and the way they play. But we’re also confident with where we’re at.”

Lobbe said the rematch would be a different experience than the home away season-ender, given the high stakes of finals.

“Every game is different and they have got different players come in and we have got a couple of changes,” he said.

“We know that it’s going to step up a lot again, the intensity and the pressure.”
