Port’s Ryder set to miss another AFL game

Port Adelaide are braced to again be without Paddy Ryder as teammate Justin Westhoff warns his AFL club is far from back in form.

The Power snapped a three-game losing streak with an emphatic 61-point belting of Melbourne in Alice Springs on Saturday.

Ryder missed the win because of an Achilles injury and is expected to be sidelined for Saturday night’s home game against the Western Bulldogs.

And Westhoff says while the Power regained some confidence from their demolition of Melbourne, too much shouldn’t be read into the result.

“We have still got a lot of improvement to do,” he told reporters on Monday.

“We face a big task this weekend against the Bulldogs. They’re in some pretty good form and we just need to continue to chip away but our hard work is starting to pay off a little bit.

“We’re starting to win games off our defensive effort.”

Port, in 11th spot with four wins and five losses, have confirmed key backman Jackson Trengove will miss six weeks with an ankle injury.
