WELL OUT of finals contention, Carlton has little more to play for on Friday than pride. The Blues nearly toppled powerhouse Geelong last weekend, but the pain of missed opportunity could be eased by claiming the scalp of Port Adelaide on the road. The Power are fighting to keep their top-four hopes alive and need these four points to keep the pressure on fourth-placed Fremantle. The club felt it returned to form in Gold Coast’s rain last weekend and coach Ken Hinkley will demand a similar effort on the national stage.

THE SIX POINTS
1. Port Adelaide has kicked more behinds this season than any other side (263); its overall accuracy is middle of the road, ranked 10th at 48.8 per cent.

2. No team handballs less in 2014 than the Blues, ranked 18th with only 133 a game. In contrast, the Power are ranked fourth with 165.4 a game.

3. Port Adelaide has killed teams on the outside this season, ranked fifth for uncontested possessions with 228.7 a game. Carlton has struggled, ranked 17th with 207.1 a game.

4. Carlton travels to Adelaide Oval for the first time, but its recent history in Adelaide is good, winning five of its past six games at AAMI Stadium.

5. Despite Port Adelaide’s win in round one, Carlton has had the better of the Power recently, winning seven of nine games since 2008, including three wins by more than 50 points.

6. Power spearhead Jay Schulz has gone cold; his output over the past month is 70 per cent down on his previous average. Blues star Kade Simpson is also struggling and dropped six places in the Official AFL Player Ratings after his third-worst game since 2010 last weekend.
