Petracca to make AFL debut

Melbourne youngster Christian Petracca will finally make his AFL debut this Saturday against St Kilda.

In a video posted on the Demons website, coach Paul Roos kept Petracca hanging before breaking the good news.

“Obviously the way you’ve been playing is the way we want you to play and the team is in good form,” Roos said.

“So it’s hard to find a spot for you at the moment … but we’ve found one for you.”

Melbourne recruited Petracca with the second pick in the 2014 draft, but last year was ruined by a knee reconstruction.

The club then took a dim view of him breaking a toe while playing basketball in the off-season.

But strong form in the VFL means Petracca will break into the senior team.
