No AFL tribunal after players accept fines

The AFL tribunal won’t sit on Tuesday night after six players accepted fines.

Four of those fines arose from a fiery clash in the second quarter of the Anzac Day blockbuster between Essendon and Collingwood at the MCG.

Magpies Marley Williams, Jack Frost and Jackson Ramsay and Bombers forward Joe Daniher each accepted fines of $1000 for taking part in a melee.

It was a first offence for all four players, who risked a $1500 penalty if they took their case to the tribunal and lost.

Fremantle’s Matt de Boer and West Coast’s Nic Naitanui were the only other players to run foul of the AFL match review panel after its assessment of round four action.

De Boer accepted a $1000 fine for striking Sydney’s Harry Cunningham and Naitanui accepted a $1000 sanction for tripping Brisbane’s Jack Redden.
