Troy Menzel has earned the round-16 AFL Rising Star nomination for his leading role in Carlton’s 85-point win over St Kilda.

Menzel booted two goals and took a career-high eight marks against the Saints on Sunday.

The 19-year-old is the Blues’ leading goal-kicker this season with 22.

“Troy’s work ethic is just outstanding,” Blues coach Mick Malthouse said of the No.11 pick from the 2012 draft.

“He’s such a great team man, who is loved by his teammates.

“The more games he plays, the wiser he gets about his footy.”

Menzel’s older brother Daniel, who plays for Geelong, was nominated for the same award in 2011.
