Collingwood have suspended reigning Brownlow Medallist Dane Swan for their next two AFL games after a night out drinking.
Swan is believed to have been challenged by a teammate at training on Monday over his condition after a night out on Sunday.
The Magpies said a number of parties, including the club’s leadership group, were involved in the decision to suspend Swan.
It comes at a potentially costly time, with third-placed Collingwood’s next two matches crucial clashes with Sydney and North Melbourne.
The midfielder was in superb form and the ban will also harm his chances of making it back-to-back Brownlow Medals.
Swan’s suspension comes a day after Western Bulldogs young gun Tom Liberatore was banned by his club for the rest of the year.
Liberatore was found unconscious by the police and with an illicit drug in his possession on the weekend.
