Lycett among 3 to re-sign with West Coast

AFL club West Coast has re-signed talented young trio Jack Darling, Andrew Gaff and Scott Lycett.

The Eagles announced the new deals on Monday, failing to reveal the length of any of the contract extensions.

However South Australian Lycett, who was off contract at the end of the current season and being chased by Port Adelaide, let the cat out of the bag on social media.

“I’m happy to announce that I am STAYING AT WEST COAST for another 4 YEARS!! Amazing club,” Lycett posted on Instagram.

Lycett’s signature became all the more important for the Eagles after veteran ruckman Dean Cox confirmed this season would be his last.

The 21-year-old has played 10 games this season, predominantly in the ruck although he booted four goals against Collingwood in round 19.

Forward Darling and midfielder Gaff have played every game this season.

“We are a chance to play finals this year, but whatever happens in the next few weeks I think there are positive signs that we will build on that in the next couple of years,” Darling said on the club website.

All three players were drafted in 2010 and born in 1992, the year of West Coast’s inaugural premiership.
