Injury sidelines Sydney’s Rohan in AFL

Sydney forward Gary Rohan has suffered another injury setback and will miss at least the first few weeks of the AFL season.

The Swans have put the 24-year-old on their long-term injury list because of a persistent hamstring problem.

They hope he will return to playing by May.

“Gary has been battling a hamstring problem for a number of weeks and has missed a critical portion of his pre-season preparation,” Swans football manager Tom Harley said.

“As a result, he will need at least another eight weeks’ preparation before he can resume playing so, for now, he will continue his rehab.

“We’re confident Gary will have an impact when he returns and will play out the year.”

Rohan has played 61 senior games since his 2009 debut.

He suffered a badly broken leg in 2012 and was sidelined for more than a year.
