Hundreds to gather for Walsh memorial

Adelaide Crows coach Phil Walsh will be remembered at a memorial service at Adelaide Oval on Wednesday.

Hundreds of AFL and other sporting identities will converge at the oval for the private memorial service for Walsh, who was allegedly stabbed to death by his 26-year-old son on July 3.

Members of Walsh’s family, including his wife Meredith and 22-year-old daughter Quinn, will attend the service.

But Walsh’s son Cy remains detained in a secure psychiatric facility after being charged with murdering his father.

Cy has not entered a plea and is due to appear in court again in September.

Walsh’s family and close friends farewelled the 55-year-old at a church funeral last Friday.

Walsh’s death stunned the AFL community, who have staged emotional tributes for the first-year head coach of the Crows who also played and coached at six other clubs.
