Henderson requests transfer at Blues

Carlton forward Lachie Henderson has requested a trade away from the struggling AFL club and will not play out the 2015 season.

Henderson is out of contract at season’s end and has informed the Blues he wants a fresh start elsewhere, after a season in which Carlton have slumped to last place on the AFL ladder with three games remaining.

The 25-year-old played 102 games for the club and was a member of the club’s leadership group in 2015.

Carlton Head of Football Andrew McKay says the club will explore its trade options.

“We are obviously disappointed with Lachie’s decision to request a trade but we want people who yearn to play for our Carlton jumper, and who will accept the responsibility that comes with it,” he said.

“Our list management team now has a duty to our Carlton members to get the best possible deal in return for Lachie through the AFL trade period.”
