Hawks send Gilham to Giants

Hawthorn continue to reorganise their defence in AFL trading, sending Stephen Gilham to Greater Western Sydney and recruiting Matt Spangher from Sydney.

They were among six deals announced so far on the last day of a busy trade period.

Clubs have until 2pm (AEDT) on Friday to strike trade deals.

Hawthorn sent Gilham to the Giants along with draft pick 28, which was on-traded, and pick 65.

They gain Jed Anderson, who is yet to make his AFL debut, and picks 29 and 68.

Spangher is on the move again, two years after he went from West Coast to the Swans.

The Hawks gave up the No.66 compensation pick they received for losing free agent Clinton Young for Spangher and pick 72.

Hawthorn beefed up their defence on day one of the trade period earlier this month when they picked up Western Bulldogs full back Brian Lake.

Also on Friday, Sydney youngster Campbell Heath was traded to Port Adelaide and Melbourne utility Cale Morton is headed to West Coast.

Melbourne midfielder Jordie Gysberts and North Melbourne tall utility Cam Pedersen switch clubs in a trade that also involves draft picks.

Kangaroos key forward Aaron Edwards heads to Richmond for pick 74.
