Hawks get mixed news from AFL MRP

Hawthorn stars Sam Mitchell and Cyril Rioli are free to play against North Melbourne on Saturday, but the Hawks could be without young forward James Sicily after he was cited by the AFL’s match review panel.

Mitchell was cleared of any wrongdoing for his part in a scuffle with Melbourne’s Jack Watts during the Hawks’ upset loss at the MCG and Rioli can accept a $1000 fine for his bump on young Demon Clayton Oliver.

Sicily, 21, was charged with striking Bernie Vince and can accept a one-match ban with an early plea or risk a two-game penalty if he unsuccessfully challenges the MRP’s finding at the tribunal.

North’s Jed Anderson and St Kilda’s Blake Acres were the only other players cited after the MRP’s assessment of round 20 AFL action.

Anderson can accept a $1500 fine for rough conduct on the Western Bulldogs’ Lin Jong and Acres can take a $1000 penalty after he was charged with striking Carlton’s Matthew Kreuzer.
