Preview:

GREATER Western Sydney will get another test of its improvement this season when it takes on Adelaide. GWS’ four previous meetings with the Crows make for sorry reading, losing all four by an average of 91 points. A percentage-boosting victory would be ideal for the ninth-placed visitors, who kept their finals hopes alive with last week’s stirring victory over Port Adelaide. A third win from Adelaide’s past four games could have it back in the top eight at the end of the round, but GWS will be keen to build on a solid 3-2 record at Spotless Stadium in 2014.

LAST FOUR TIMES
R5, 2014, Adelaide 21.11 (137) d GWS 10.12 (72) at Adelaide Oval
R7, 2013, Adelaide 29.13 (187) d GWS 7.10 (52) at Spotless Stadium
R16, 2012, Adelaide 27.16 (178) d GWS 8.11 (59) at Spotless Stadium
R4, 2012, Adelaide 13.18 (96) d GWS 7.8 (50) at AAMI Stadium

THE SIX POINTS
1. GWS has had plenty of trouble against Adelaide, who they are yet to beat in four attempts. Two of those losses were by well over 100 points, including a 135-point defeat at Spotless Stadium last season.
2. Patrick Dangerfield starred in his last two games against the Giants. He had 28 touches, four goals and three Brownlow Medal votes in round seven last year and 33 possessions and five goals earlier this season.
3. GWS is the AFL’s No.1 clearance side in 2014, with a total of 587 or 41.9 per game. The Crows are ranked 8th with 38.5 per game.
4. Adelaide is averaging 54.8 inside 50s per game, 4th overall in the AFL. GWS is 11th with 49.6.
5. The Giants have a 3-2 record at Spotless Stadium this year. In their first two seasons combined, they were 2-11.
6. Adelaide currently has three players inside the top 50 in the Official AFL Player Ratings – Dangerfield (No.4), Rory Sloane (No.15) and Richard Douglas (No.22).
