Giants trade Hombsch to AFL club Port

Greater Western Sydney have traded defender Jack Hombsch to AFL rivals Port Adelaide.

Hombsch and the Giants’ Northern Territory zone selection Jake Neade will join Port, in exchange for the Power’s pick no.29 at the national draft.

Hombsch, a 19-year-old recruited from SANFL club Sturt, has played nine AFL games for the Giants.

“One of our founding players, Jack has been an asset to the Giants over the last two years as a versatile player with a diligent work ethic,” Giants general manager of football Graeme Allan said in a statement on Tuesday.

“His move to Port Adelaide will give him the opportunity to play more senior football.”

The Giants were able to trade Neade, a small forward from the NT, under the club’s list establishment zone selections.
