Greater Western Sydney coach Leon Cameron isn’t sure where his young team is heading.

But with five games to go in what has been his side’s most successful AFL season, you can bet he’s loving the ride.

The Giants sit second on the ladder after claiming a hard-fought 19-point win over Port Adelaide at a wet and blustery Adelaide Oval.

Cameron insists the Giants aren’t ready to start dreaming about a possible home final.

But with a record-breaking 12 wins under their belts, they’re certainly not lacking self-belief.

“We’ve got five hard weeks of footy starting with the Tigers next Saturday,” he said after Sunday’s win.

“We know it’s going to be really tough. Our boys have got to make sure we recover well and away we go.

“Where that leads us to, who knows, but there’s no doubt that to win today on the road has helped the boys’ confidence immensely.”

Cameron said ruckman Shane Mumford would have tests on an injured knee after hobbling off the ground in the dying minutes of Sunday’s game.

He said the cause of the injury wasn’t clear but a decision had been made to place Mumford in cotton wool as a precaution.

“It’s a little bit unknown. Hopefully he’s okay,” he said.

“He said he wanted to go back on in the last three minutes. He was jumping around testing it with the physio and said everything was fine.

“He’s obviously a big part of our footy club so we’ve got to make sure to see how he pulls up over the next few days.”
