Sydney co-captain Kieren Jack will be hoping to end a tumultuous week by getting a win against the club he has had the lowest success rate against during his distinguished AFL career.

The classy midfielder earned widespread praise on Wednesday for the way he conducted himself in a media conference where all the early questions were about a feud with his parents.

Jack had the option of not doing the presser, but once again demonstrated the professionalism which has been a hallmark of his career.

Typically all his focus was on attaining an important win against Geelong at Simonds Stadium on Friday rather than his family issue or the fact he would be making his 200th AFL appearance this week.

Geelong away however, is about as tough a gig as you can get in the AFL.

Jack at least has experienced one win there, but has tasted defeat in his other six visits to the Cattery.

Overall he has only belted out the club song four times in 14 games against Geelong, the worst winning percentage of all the AFL clubs he has played against.

It’s probably no consolation or of any relevance to him that he had wins in all three of his previous milestone games.

An articulate ambassador for his club and code, Jack said any leadership qualities he possessed were developed through experience, or or from learning from older players, rather than being innate.

He stressed it would be up to the Swans’ leaders to stand up and prevent any more late glitches like the ones that allowed Richmond and Western Bulldogs to beat them at the death.

“It’s so critical with a couple of minutes to go and you’re in front your leaders are the ones that stand up and show the way for the young boys,” Jack said.

“All the leadership players, we put it on ourselves in the big moments to stand up, that’s a continual challenge.

“Sometimes you don’t get it right, but you want to put yourself in that moment.”
