Star Sydney Swans forward Lance Franklin has been ruled out of Friday night’s AFL game against Essendon at the SCG.

Franklin, who has kicked 55 goals in 11 games against the Bombers, has withdrawn from the side with knee soreness.

It’s only the second game this season missed by Franklin, who has kicked 50 goals this year.

He’s replaced in the side by 20-year-old debutant, Tim Membrey, a medium-sized forward.

Jake Lloyd has been named as Sydney’s substitute while Cory Dell’Olio is the sub for the Bombers.
