Flailing Blues request priority draft pick

Carlton CEO Steven Trigg has made an official submission to the AFL for a priority draft pick in a bid to raise the flailing team’s future performance.

The Blues already have the No.1 picks in the national and pre-season drafts after claiming the wooden spoon and could also get pick No.2 in the national draft should they lose ruck-forward Matthew Kreuzer to free agency.

“We now need to make good decisions for Carlton for our growth and for our future,” said Trigg in an open letter to club members.

“A priority selection will obviously assist our rebuild by helping Carlton improve quicker – and a competitive Carlton is vital for a healthy AFL competition.”
