Fisher re-signs with AFL club St Kilda

Veteran defender Sam Fisher has signed a one-year contract extension with AFL club St Kilda.

Fisher’s past two seasons have been marred by injury, the 32-year-old only able to play 16 games in that time.

But the dual club best and fairest rediscovered form and fitness over the past two months and is convinced now is not the time to retire.

“The Saints are a huge part of my life and I’m looking forward to continuing on again next year,” Fisher said.

“We have a young and exciting group of players and I feel that I can help guide them through their development, while still contributing on the field.”

St Kilda head of football Chris Pelchen said Fisher’s experience and leadership were required at the club.

“With such a young group of players being assembled at St Kilda, Sam will play an integral role in developing the defensive unit for the future,” Pelchen said.
