Draft bargain Cameron Sutcliffe has re-signed with Fremantle until the end of the 2018 AFL season, with the 22-year-old crediting the club’s culture as a big motivation to stay.
Sutcliffe has played 47 games – including every match last season – since being snared with pick No.71 at the 2011 national draft.
The South Australian was named Fremantle’s player of the finals last year, and his three-year contract extension is an important boost for the club as it attempts to lock away its young stars.
“We’re obviously building a really strong culture within the group, and I feel with the way the club is heading in an upward direction, that’s something that I want to be involved in,” Sutcliffe said.
“(And) Freo’s a really nice place, I love living here.
“I’m really happy.
“All the coaches that we have at the minute are top class
“It’s a really good development academy as well. Coming through that and emerging now into a better player myself, it’s been very good.”
