Crows’ Thompson might miss AFL opener

Veteran Adelaide midfielder Scott Thompson could miss their round-one AFL match against North Melbourne because of a hamstring problem.

Coach Phil Walsh said the 2012 All Australian was “touch and go” after suffering the injury at training.

After Thursday’s NAB Challenge match against Geelong, the Crows play Port Adelaide in their last pre-season match on March 21 and then start the regular season on April 5 against the Kangaroos at Adelaide Oval.

“Thommo’s had a slight setback with his hammy so he’s probably touch and go for even next week,” Walsh said.

“We’ll just monitor that one as we go along.

“We’ve still got four weeks (until round one), most hamstrings are only three weeks, but he did have a slight setback.”

Walsh added this latest injury was unrelated to the hamstring problems that hampered Thompson in the second half of last season.
