Crows boss set to move to AFL rivals

Adelaide’s chief executive Steven Trigg is believed to have quit the club for AFL rivals Carlton.

Trigg, who in 2012 was fined and suspended for breaking AFL laws, is understood to have agreed to join the Blues as their chief executive.

Trigg’s departure from Adelaide is expected to be announced at a media conference on Tuesday morning, with the Crows remaining tight-lipped on Monday night.

“The Adelaide Football Club will not be commenting tonight on speculation surrounding chief executive officer Steven Trigg and vacancies at other clubs,” the Crows said in a statement.

“However there will be a media conference … tomorrow.”

Carlton’s former chief executive Greg Swann quit the role in May after more than seven years in the role.

In 2012, Trigg pleaded guilty to three draft and salary cap breaches and was fined $50,000 and suspended for six months by the AFL for his role in the Kurt Tippett controversy.

The Crows’ chief admitted breaking laws when Tippett was re-signed by Adelaide in 2009.

The Crows were also fined $300,000 and barred from the opening two rounds of the 2012 draft for the breaches.

Tippett was also fined $50,000 and banned for 11 games, with all suspensions ending in the middle of last year.
