Crouch in AFL frame for Crows

Forgotten Adelaide midfielder Brad Crouch is set to play his first AFL game of the season.

The 2013 Rising Star runner-up has logged just 11 games in the past two years, and is yet to feature this season because of a broken foot.

But Crouch is tipped to return for Adelaide’s away trip to face battling Brisbane on Saturday.

“He trained well … as long as he doesn’t pull up sore during the next couple of days, I’m sure he’ll play this week,” teammate Luke Brown told reporters on Wednesday.

Crouch starred in his debut 2013 season but an Achilles ailment restricted the prolific ball-winner to 11 matches last year.

After banking a solid pre-season, Crouch broke his left foot in March.

Backman Brown, who has signed a two-year contract extension with the Crows, also expects captain Taylor Walker to play against the 17th-placed Lions.

Walker was substituted during Adelaide’s loss to Hawthorn last Thursday because of a corked thigh.

While Brisbane have won only two games, Brown said the seventh-placed Crows were wary of the Lions.

“When they’re on their game, they’re a really tough team to beat,” the 22-year-old said.

“Their forwards are really quick and small so it will be a tough day for us.”
