Collingwood make four AFL changes

Collingwood have summoned Ben Reid and James Aish among four changes for Friday night’s AFL fixture against Richmond.

Reid, Aish, Brodie Grundy and Adam Oxley come into a Magpies side trying to cover the losses of Dane Swan (broken leg) and Steele Sidebottom (suspension).

Richmond, still without Brett Deledio (thigh) and Ivan Maric (back), omitted Steven Morris and lost Daniel Rioli (leg) and Shane Edwards (broken hand) to injury.

The Tigers called on upgraded rookie Jayden Short, Shaun Grigg and Taylor Hunt for the MCG match.

In Adelaide, the Crows reacted to their round-one loss to North by dropping ex-captain Nathan van Berlo for Saturday’s showdown against Port Adelaide.

The Crows opted for Kyle Hartigan instead to face Port, who named ex-Melbourne utility Jimmy Toumpas for his club debut.

Toumpas replaces Matthew White, who will be sidelined for three months by a pectoral tear.

In Saturday’s afternoon game in Melbourne, the Demons, eyeing two wins in a row, recalled Heritier Lumumba and Angus Brayshaw for their game against Essendon.

The Demons lost Oscar McDonald to an ankle injury and dropped Sam Frost while the Bombers axed three players – Shaun McKernan, Craig Bird and Jonathan Simpkin.

Essendon will debut defender Michael Hartley, Nick Kommer will play his first AFL game since 2013 while Orazio Fantasia has also been recalled.

Meanwhile, Brisbane were strengthened for their home match against North Melbourne by the returns of key duo Dayne Zorko (suspension) and Daniel Merrett (illness).

The Kangaroos replaced Jed Anderson (hamstring) with Kayne Turner for the Gabba game.
