Bulldog Murphy to play on next year

Veteran Western Bulldogs skipper Robert Murphy will extend his AFL career into a 17th season after signing a new one-year contract.

Murphy has agreed to a fresh deal with the Bulldogs, who drafted him in 1999, that will keep him at the club until at least the end of 2017.

The 32-year-old has been in excellent form so far this season under new coach Luke Beveridge, averaging 22.7 possessions in the first seven games and ranking in the top 10 across the competition in kicks, rebound 50s and bounces.
