Fremantle recruit Harley Bennell will miss the Dockers’ opening-round AFL clash against the Western Bulldogs after suffering a calf injury in a local hitout last weekend.

Bennell starred with four goals for Peel Thunder, but Dockers coach Ross Lyon revealed on Monday that the former Gold Coast forward was hurt in the match.

Lyon said Bennell was now out of the selection frame for Sunday’s round-one match against the Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.
