Aish-Bastinac AFL deal secured

Collingwood have finally secured Brisbane onballer James Aish on the last day of the AFL trade period.

The three-way deal also involved North Melbourne midfielder Ryan Bastinac joining the Lions.

There had been speculation for months about Aish’s future, but it took plenty of haggling for the deal to be confirmed.

The complicated trade also involves the exchange of current and future draft picks among the three clubs.

Confirmation of the Aish-Bastinac trade leaves Chris Yarran as the one obvious deal yet to be sealed before Thursday’s 2pm deadline.

Richmond are yet to secure a trade that would secure Yarran from Carlton.

Fremantle coach Ross Lyon was a notable attendee at Etihad Stadium for Thursday’s last round of trade negotiations.

His presence suggested the Dockers will make one last push to secure Cam McCarthy from GWS.
