AFL Lions skipper Brown hit by car

Brisbane Lions skipper Jonathan Brown has been cleared of serious injury after being struck by a car while riding his bike on Queensland’s Gold Coast on Tuesday.

The AFL star was released from hospital with 10 stitches in his elbow.

Brown was riding with a group of about 20 cyclists in the Currumbin Valley when the accident occurred.

He was able to walk away from the accident but was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance and underwent scans.

A Lions spokesman said Brown rang the club after the incident to assure them he had not been seriously injured.

“The Lions would like to thank its many members who contacted the club expressing their concern for Brown’s health and wellbeing,” the spokesman said.

It is believed the car that struck Brown had to be towed away from the accident site.
